Another strong signal today that Richardson remains a strategic location for high-tech industry, talent, and long-term growth: Texas Instruments has received a $33.6 million Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant to support expanded capacity and technology investments at its 300mm semiconductor wafer fab in Richardson.

The grant is part of a project expected to total $700 million in capital investment and will expand production capabilities for critical analog and embedded processing chips used in vehicles, smartphones, satellites, and countless other technologies that power everyday life.

TI’s continued investment in its Richardson operations reinforces our community’s long-standing role in advanced manufacturing, semiconductor innovation, and the technologies shaping the future.

The City of Richardson’s Economic Development Department was honored to host delegates from Keelung City, Taiwan, before they made the journey home last week.

Representatives from the Keelung City government traveled from Taiwan to Texas for a signing ceremony establishing a Friendship City Agreement, which promotes collaboration in educational, cultural, artistic, and economic opportunities. Before returning home, Richardson Economic Development Director Chris Shacklett led the delegation on a private tour of The IQ®HQ, a hub that brings together Richardson’s Economic Development Department, UT Dallas Catalyst, DORADO 5G OpenLab, and Startup Runway under one roof.

With Richardson recognized by the Texas Legislature as the International Business Capital of North Texas, partnerships like these strengthen the city's global connections and create opportunities for collaboration with international businesses and communities.

A special thank you to the Greater Dallas Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, UT Dallas Vice President for Research and Innovation Dr. Joseph Pancrazio, and OpenLab @ UT Dallas Director Dr. Andrea Fumagalli for helping make the delegation’s visit a memorable one.

The City of Richardson is pleased to announce that Celestica, a global leader in data center infrastructure and advanced technology solutions, will expand its operations at 2801 Telecom Parkway, reinforcing the city’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing and technology-based employment.

The project will represent an estimated $300 million investment by the company and includes the renewal of their lease of two existing buildings and a new lease for a 343,000-square foot building currently under construction. Once completed, Celestica will occupy approximately 1 million square feet through 2036. The expanded campus on Telecom Parkway will support advanced manufacturing operations and reinforce the company’s long-term commitment to Richardson’s business community.

Celestica relocated to Richardson in 2022 and has experienced rapid growth since then. The expansion is expected to retain nearly 400 existing jobs and create nearly 2,300 new high-tech positions over the next two years.
