Simone Buniles is a special rabbit with a splay leg. She's a tiny but mighty bunny—under four pounds—with a big personality. She was one of the nearly 400 rabbits we spayed and neutered at our facility through the veterinary training initiative last year. It was also discovered Simone would need ongoing dental care, the treatment for which can be routinely done by our expert medical team. One of our long-time fosters fell in love with Simone and quickly adopted her. Soon, they found Simone a friend in Bungus (formerly Manzanita), an HRS rabbit with head tilt. It was almost love at first sight! Now, the two are living their best life together!

Their adopter shares, "Simone, Bungus, and I have had a great first year together! The rabbits love to hang out together every day under the couch, eat their meals together, and cuddle together every night before bed. Simone likes sleeping on her favorite pillows while Bungus gets up to mischief around the apartment and disturbs her beauty sleep to beg for kisses. His whole world revolves around Simone. Whenever she gets up to use the litter box, he's right behind her trying to catch her eye. It's a hilarious dynamic to watch.

Simone visits HRS every few months for routine veterinary care which she receives for free as part of the Golden Ears program. We are so grateful to HRS for making sure she'll be able to receive care related to her condition without us ever stressing about how we'll pay for it. Simone truly lucked out when HRS took her in, and I feel just as lucky to have these lovebugs in my life. On behalf of myself, Simone, and Bungus, thank you HRS!"

With your support, Golden Ears rabbits like Simone are given the second chance they need and deserve at a better life. Donate today at houserabbit.org/donate and your kindness for rabbits like her and countless others will be doubled. We're already 25% of the way to our goal of raising $40,000 to continue our life-saving rescue work and educational and medical programs, including the veterinary training initiative. With your help, we can get one step closer!

One of our favorite things to do is to share happy adoption updates with you! Fiona (formerly Fava Bean) was adopted by her foster at the start of this year, and they just adore her.

Her adopter shares, "I brought Fiona home in December with the intention of a short term foster, but soon after she arrived, I knew I wouldn't be able to part with her. She loves playing tunnel with me and my partner and her favorite greens are arugula and dandelion greens (in addition to cilantro, of course). We found she isn't into basil, strawberries, or radishes! She loves to hope around on the sofa and take naps under the coffee table. I love her so much and didn't realize a bunny could bring so much joy into my life.

Thinking about finding a friend for your rabbit, but not sure what to expect when you sign up for a speed date? Just like people, rabbits have their own personalities and preferences, and not every match is love at first sight.

In our latest blog post, HRS volunteer speed date host Lexi takes you behind the scenes of the bonding process. Learn how potential matches are selected, what volunteers look for during introductions, and how to recognize the positive, neutral, and not-so-positive behaviors that help determine whether two rabbits might be a good fit. You'll also discover what happens after a successful first date and why patience is one of the keys to building a lasting bond.

Read "A Walkthrough of Bunny Dating at HRS" on our blog at houserabbit.org/updates/a-walkthrough-of-bunny-dating-at-hrs to see how we help rabbits find their perfect match and for an inside look at what speed dating entails.
