Recently, several contractors paid nearly $10 million to settle allegations of bodily injury and property damage from mold contamination in a client's residence. When a contractor's work disturbs an existing pollution condition, the contractor is held liable for resulting damages. Mold is just one of the countless types of unforeseen pollution that general contractors can uncover. Most contractors don't realize that even if they don't work with hazardous chemicals, they still face pollution liability risks.

Many are also unaware that these types of risks are typically not covered by general liability.

Contractors need a tailored policy in place to safeguard against losses caused by hidden pollution conditions. I have access to policies that address the risks that contractors face every day. Give me a call and let's discuss your individual situation TODAY!

The subject of liability insurance is not unfamiliar to the general public. Driving a car creates potential liability and is faced by most individuals every day.

Also, the publicity surrounding the legal system—specifically concerning large monetary judgments—makes it difficult to ignore the situation. Even in the few states where mandatory personal vehicle insurance is not required, most drivers purchase it to protect themselves.

However, many drivers fail to realize that negligence is the basis of personal liability exposure and that negligence can cause other situations in which they can be held liable. Individuals require protection against being exposed to damages from negligence. This exposure can be absorbed by getting several types of insurance policies.

There are three common types:
- Personal vehicle liability insurance.
- Workers' compensation and employer's liability insurance.
- General liability insurance.

These categories of insurance are provided by separate policies. General liability policies do not cover a policyholder's liability for negligence arising out of the use of automobiles and for injuries to employees or contractors. In the first instance, coverage is available under a personal vehicle liability insurance policy. In the second event, one can gain protection through workers' compensation and employer's liability insurance.
