Did you know Fall is one of the best times to plant? Consider this Powerhouse Pairing: Goldenrods and Asters!
Keystone goldenrods and asters are ecological superstars in the fall garden, hosting high numbers of both lepidoptera and specialist bees. Did you know that their effect is enhanced when they are planted together?
According to botanist and author Robin Wall Kimmerer, goldenrods and asters appear very similarly to bee eyes and human eyes. Their contrasting complementary colors (opposite to each other on the color wheel) makes them an attractive target. Together, both receive more pollinator visits than they would if they were growing alone.
