They don't make music like this anymore. On Monday, May 17, 1982, Total Experience Records released 'Gap Band IV' to the delight of a nation of Gap Band enthusiasts and R&B radio. "Early in the Morning" was the first release from the album, and yes, it did its thing!

In November of the same year, 'Outstanding" became the second release of what would become a mighty R&B radio staple of an album. This song became a nationwide form of slang or code in the party circuit; it became known as, "Side one, track 4.."

Ronnie, Charlie, and Robert Wilson gave their fans reliable R&B music during the final glory days of LPs, eight-track tapes, cassettes, and R&B radio. tracks like "Outstanding" became an audio staple in homes and clubs across America. In fact, the track still resonates with those of us who were, and still are, fans of this, one of the funkiest and most talented R&B groups of its time.
