To everyone who attended today's Women of Achievement Luncheon whether as a sponsor, past recipient, supporter, or honoree we thank you. Today’s event gives us hope for the future of the Women’s Empowerment Fund. Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” we plan on changing the world.

Started by former City of Riverside Mayor Ab Brown in 1990, in conjunction with our annual Men Who Cook fundraiser, the Brown Family Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to female high school students during their pursuit of higher education.

The YWCA awards a minimum of three (3) scholarships of $500 or more on an annual basis; the number of scholarships and the funding awarded is dependent upon donations received in support of the Fund. Each year, a portion of the proceeds raised at the Men Who Cook fundraiser are directly earmarked for Brown Family Scholarships for the following funding year.
