This is an interesting article by Dan Casey of the Roanoke Times. It seems to me there are two stories here. As Dan has pointed out in numerous articles, the Greensboro Post Office is not doing Roanoke mail service any favors. The 50 days late ballot is a prime example.

The other is how many ballots arrived late. By a day or two. I wonder if we live in such a fast Amazon world, where a click on your device gives you instant shipping feedback, that sticking the ballot in the mail on election day and expecting it to be delivered in time is the result.

In any event, the holiday season is upon us. Safe travels everyone, watch out for the deer in the road and Happy Thanksgiving.

CASEY: Did your absentee ballot get counted in the recent election? A quick survey of Roanoke-area registrars reveals that hundreds of absentee ballots in the November election were not counted because they arrived in the mail after the Election Day deadline.
