This is a great reminder to recharge our batteries and how to do it. Fall is a beautiful time to get out in nature!

Energy givers and takers and sleep. How do you switch the takers off for the night? What are your energy givers and takers? 🔋🪫

As an Occupational Therapist and mom of an ADHD child, I know how a shift in perspective can make a huge difference for kids with ADHD at school. Here are five mindset shifts I wish every teacher could adopt:

1️⃣ Focus on their strengths, not just the challenges.
Kids with ADHD are often creative, enthusiastic, and think outside the box. Highlighting their strengths helps them feel seen and motivated.

2️⃣ It’s not that they can’t focus—they need the right tools.
With the right environment and strategies, ADHD kids can stay engaged. Simple adjustments like fidget tools, visual aids, or breaking tasks into steps can make all the difference.

3️⃣ Give them choices.
Allowing them to choose how they approach tasks or activities gives them a sense of control, boosting their motivation and focus.

4️⃣ Every day is a fresh start.
ADHD kids may have rough days, but that doesn’t define their potential. Approach each day with optimism, and give them the chance to start fresh.

5️⃣ You can’t change their brain, but you can change how you teach them.
ADHD kids don’t fit into a one-size-fits-all system, but flexible teaching methods like movement breaks and structured routines can lead to great progress.

Your ADHD child deserves a supportive school experience. If you’re struggling to get the right accommodations or need guidance, I’ve created an ADHD School Survival Guide just for you! Comment “SCHOOL” below, and I’ll send it right to you. Let’s help your child thrive both academically and emotionally! 💛✨
