Today, we celebrate the freedoms we share, the traditions we cherish, and the communities that bring us together. Whether you're spending the day with family, friends, or neighbors, we hope it's filled with laughter, connection, and meaningful memories.

We are especially grateful to the veterans, active-duty service members, and military families whose service and sacrifice have made these freedoms possible.

Employee Spotlight: Kevin Sullivan

Chances are, if you’ve spent any time around Forté 2, you’ve seen Kevin hard at work keeping our community looking its best. Kevin takes pride in maintaining a community residents are proud to call home, especially when it comes to painting. As an animal lover, he also looks forward to greeting all of our community dogs each day!

When asked what he loves most about working at Forté, Kevin’s answer is simple: the people. He loves listening to residents' stories and sharing perspectives with them. Kevin is also quick to praise our community, noting that Forté features the most versatile and impressive activities program he has ever seen in senior living.

Outside of work, Kevin and his wife, Tick, have been together for more than 20 years. Living in Mazeppa, they share a deep love for gardening, tending to beautiful outdoor flower gardens and a large collection of indoor plants. When they are relaxing indoors, they love catching up on their favorite shows like Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Grey’s Anatomy.

The couple also makes an incredible team in the kitchen. Tick is an accomplished chef and baker, while Kevin brings over 30 years of restaurant industry experience, having worked his way up from a busboy to a restaurant owner. One of their favorite traditions is making homemade egg rolls—and they once made an astonishing 110 dozen egg rolls in a single weekend!

When he’s not gardening, cooking, or working around the property, Kevin loves spending quality time with his grandson. You can also easily spark up a conversation with him about German automobiles, as he is a huge fan of Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Thank you, Kevin, for your hard work, your warm spirit, and everything you do to keep Forté running smoothly and looking beautiful. We are incredibly grateful to have you on our team!

We had the best time exploring some local favorites alongside the river today!

From seeing majestic eagles at the National Eagle Center, to visiting the famous filming locations from Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men at Slippery’s, to rediscovering the old favorites at Lark Toys (and enjoying some delicious ice cream!), it was a wonderful day spent exploring, learning, and making memories together.
