Today marks the birthday of Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906), an activist and pioneer of the women’s suffragist movement. Born in Adams, Massachusetts, she was raised to believe in equality and social justice. Her family moved to Rochester, NY in 1845 where her social circle included Frederick Douglas and journalist William Lloyd Garrison. In 1969, Anthony founded the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1869 along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, headquartered in New York City, and continued to tirelessly work to support a woman’s right to vote until her death in 1906. It wasn’t until 1920 where the 19th Amendment was passed giving women the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony’s grave location can be found in Section C, Lot 93.

Winter at Mount Hope Cemetery
January 20, 2025
We want to extend our appreciation and thanks to the students, businesses, and all volunteers who participated in the Day of Caring at Mount Hope and Riverside Cemeteries yesterday. We thank the cemetery staff for their hard work as well. The volunteers completed multiple projects in both locations - raking leaves and doing general clean up in the cemeteries. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you next year!
