Wow, I smelled burning rubber and while on my inspection I happened to see the char on the outlet. I touched it and it was red hot, so I ran ans shut the power off and removed the outlet.(of course triple checking the power was off to the outlet with multiple testers!!!) This is excatly how house fires start!!!! The outlet shorts out and doesn't trip the breaker to shut off, the outlet and wires keep getting out until it metls the rubber coating on the wires, the box and spreads into the wall. I'm glad I was able to catch this in enough time to save or of damage to my house.
