HOP UP Physical Therapy

Do you, your patients, or someone you know have any of these risk factors for falls? This handy fact sheet from the CDC outlines both intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors that increase a person's chance of having a fall. Luckily, many of these are modifiable!

The War Memorial is excited to host this unique presentation tonight at 7pm in the Alger Center Community Room in collaboration with the Oakland University Center for Civic Engagement and HOP UP Physical Therapy featuring Drs. Sara Arena & Dr. Chris Wilson. This interative session will feature research and key tenants of their program, HOP-UP-PT (Home-based Older Persons Upstreaming Prevention Physical Therapy) focusing on the benefits and impact of preventive physical therapy services for older adults.

This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome!

HOP-UP-PT attended a Big Band Luncheon at the Canton Community Center recently to recruit for our current study! It was a beautiful event and we met some really exceptional older adults!

On Saturday, Nov 12, there will be 2 wheelchair basketball games to watch. The University of Michigan vs Edinboro University will be playing at 1:45p and 3:25p.

This community service learning event is created and carried out by OU DPT PY3’s as a component of their Health Promotion and Wellness course under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.

Dr. Chris Wilson, Co-prinicipal and co-founder of HOP-UP-PT, has been appointed as a representative of the American Physical Therapy Association as a member of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer starting in October of 2022. Congratulations Dr. Wilson!

The CDC Foundation, Amgen, and NCOA have partnered to update an online fall risk screening tool for older adults. The Falls Free CheckUp, is a free, evidence-based tool that takes only minutes to complete.
