A mural in honor of artist Richmond Futch (1950-2025) is going up in our meeting room! Richmond and many of his fellow Arnett Friends and Volunteers made our kids’ area so lovely years ago. Richmond also gave us our beautiful lobby garden mural and that big wonderous map of places a library can take you near our circulation desk. When the family of Violet Keating, countless neighbors and friends, and the Friends and Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library wanted to make the outside of our building as nice as the folk who walk through our doors, we commissioned Richmond for the project and he brought along two more brilliant artists, Chloe Smith and Ebony Singleton, to turn our library one of the prettiest places around. Now, Chloe Smith with the kind support of the Genesee Valley Council of the Arts https://gvartscouncil.org/ is putting up a work of art in our meeting room celebrating our dear friend.
Chloe Smith Illustration is one of our region's premier artists and she will likely be at the Arnett Branch Library July 15, 25, 27, and August 1, 3 working on the mural. Stay tuned for news about an unveiling reception! Give Branch Manager Ginger Brewer a call at 585-428-8214 to learn more about the project!

A hearty congratulations on her retirement goes out to a brilliant member of the Rochester Public Library, Corinne Clar. Corinne is the head of RPL’s Graphics Division. She and her team are the ones who have created a staggering amount of beautiful and informative online content, banners, fliers and publications for us. That work only scrapes the surface of what Corinne had done for our library community. She is a key reason Central Library and its branches have so many delightful and artistic displays. She is also a key reason the library’s mobile fleet of Books by Bikes and RPL-Go look so nice. There is no way we can list all the marvelous things Corinne had done for us but we here at Arnett want to give her a special thank you for creating the book, The Arnett Branch Library, 1923-2023! That book, which we will put in the comments, celebrates our wonderful patrons. Thanks for everything Corinne, we could not have asked for a more kinder, wiser, and talented friend!
