Dear Conkey Cruisers Fam, friends, supporters, donors, D9 Sororities & Fraternities, community organizations, church auxiliaries, health care communities and elected officials, on December 31, 2024, two of my teenage Conkey Cruiser baby girls sustained non-life-threatening gunshots on Hollenbeck Street. Now, we need you to help us write a new narrative for "our" neighborhood. I say our neighborhood because gun violence, crime, disenfranchisement, pain, mental illness, chronic disease and drug abuse in one neighborhood impacts every quadrant of the city. Will you join me this Saturday, February 8th, from 12pm-2pm at the Avenue D Recreation Center? Free lunch and activities for children will be available. It is becoming too common for Black Men and Black Women to drop dead in their fiftys. Per the New York Post, Rapper Fatman Scoop — the New York City musician who became popular after his tune “Be Faithful” became a 1990s club favorite — has died after he collapsed mid-performance during a free concert in Connecticut, according to a report. He was 53.

The New York-born artist, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, was headlining the “Green & Gold Party” in Hamden, Conn. when he suffered a medical emergency, according to a local official.
