The Great Race continues! Day 8 of 9 has begun.
Yesterday was considered by some as the toughest route yet - one team we spent time with s last night agrees it should be the "Roanoke Rollercoaster". It became a one car wide, "trail" through the valleys and rises of Virginia. This is both technical and endurance like I've never seen. I have to share with you the team that makes it all level out - The Wandering Troubadours of Finland in their 1918 American LaFrance. The back of driver Jay's jacket - those goggles they wear on the road aren't just for stray bugs or dust - it also protects from the constant oil pushing out from all the mechanicals, that's what creates the amazing petina on clothes and vehicle! This beast was used a hundred years ago as a firetruck! Every one of this team who we've met are a hoot. Ride on Troubadours!

Sights and sounds from Springfield to Owensboro today! Hanging out around the #1 car of Doug and Dana Sharp - among their multiple wins, their car in 2011 won The Great Race, and it was a 1911 Velie, manufactured in my hometown area - and is prominently shown in the painting I'm finishing up here on the road!
