So we survived, there were about 5000 participants. It was a hot 94 degrees with 5% humidity. The sweat evaporated instantly. Michelle struggled to breath in the altitude as we climbed from 4000 ft to 5000 ft. About 7 or 8 miles in sand. You will see a blue sign stating we were leaving the sand pit, that was a lie lol. 16.2 miles on our GPSs between three of us. A little more than 6 hours with a 19:20 pace. Could have been faster but she struggled and we stopped for water. Our packs weighed in at 45lbs. We are thinking about doing it again next year. She put a video together if you want to watch.
The next morning we got up early, drove 2 1/2 hours to Carlsbad caverns. Walked a few miles there then drove to Albuquerque another 4 1/2 hours. Now we will take the tram to the Sandi’s peak then on to Farmington.

Headed out of town to white sand New Mexico to the Bataan Death March in honor of those in 1942 who endured the Japanese forced march in the Philippines. Driving out 22 hours to do the race on Saturday. We will be carrying packs weighing in at about 44 lbs for the 15.6 miles. Originally we were doing the full 26.4 but due to the weather they have decided to only allow the honorary march. Disappointed but will still be challenging in nearly 100 degrees and 4000 feet in elevation.
Watch for pre and post march pictures on Saturday!
Headed to Fiji for 8 days to see Tim and Jeff’s resort they bought. Then off to Auckland, New Zealand. Happy to be out of the snow. I’ll send pics once I get settled. Still two more flights to go to get to their island.
