If you suffered damages or loss during last week's flooding, the Texas Department of Emergency Management wants to get your information. Please see the news release for information about filing a report with their agency. Also note that this is not a source of funding for loss, the state is developing a database to record what the financial impact was of the flooding.

Two updates for our community as of 3/8/2021. #1. The Rockport Beach Park will be closed to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, 3/10/2021. Aransas County Medical Services has received an allocation of covid vaccines and is contacting people who have signed up with them. The vaccinations will be administered on Wednesday and are only for people who have an appointment. NO vaccines will be available to other individuals. The Beach Park is the location for the distribution of these shots. If you wish to park near the Festival Grounds, you may access the beach by walking in. #2. Aransas County will begin issuing Trash Cards for BRUSH ONLY on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. The trash cards will be handed out at the Aransas County Environmental Health building located at 872 Airport Rd. from 8A-12 and 1P-4 on WEDNESDAYS ONLY. THERE IS A LIMITED AMOUNT OF CARDS AVAILABLE. Trash cards are good for 500 pounds of brush and ANY AMOUNT ABOVE THE 500 LBS MUST BE PAID FOR AT THE TIME OF DISPOSAL. The Aransas County Transfer Station accepts CASH OR CHECKS ONLY and the Hours of Operation are 9am - 4:45pm on Tuesday - Saturday.

Information about yard waste and clean-up following the freeze:
Option 1: The County will begin issuing "trash cards" within the next two weeks to residents of the County who can show proof that they live here. Approximately 60 permits will be issued per week at the Environmental Health Services office on Airport Road (next to Animal Control). The permit/trash card allows you to bring up to 500 lbs. of leaves/yard waste to the Transfer Station. If you have bagged the waste, you will need to slice open the bags to dump the waste at the brush pile and take the bags home with you. Be sure to tell the clerk at the weigh station that you have yard waste, not garbage (garbage will not be accepted with the trash card). If your load is over 500 lbs, you will need to pay either cash or check for the excess.
Option 2: The city will pick up bagged yard waste in April. Since our regular garbage pick-up day is Friday, our schedule for yard waste is Saturday. Maximum of 12 bags per residence will be picked up per stop.

Yesterday, I was privileged to attend the ribbon-cutting, grand opening of the Corpus Christi Medical Center's (CCMC) ER 24/7. Rockport's facility is located at 400 Enterprise Blvd., across from the U.S. Post Office and Memorial Park. A note of gratitude to all of those who worked diligently to recruit a new emergency care provider for Aransas County, especially to Patricia Arnold and the board members of the Aransas County Medical Services, Inc (a 501(c)3 organization that works tirelessly to bring better healthcare services to Aransas County). Thank you also to the leadership of CCMC and special thanks to the new C.E.O. Eric Evans who gave an impromptu invocation before addressing the crowd of supporters!
