CDR Diesel Repair

2000 discovery Freightliner. Went onsite for a concern of rear air brakes not releasing. First repeated the problem by releasing the air brake switch and air brakes did not release. Diagnostics is the first and most important step in any repair. Second made sure brakes were not frozen from sitting. Verified brakes will release from drum. Checked air pressure, air pressure was good. Made sure air tank supply and return lines were not blocked, all was good. Went to rear of truck, air dumping out of valve. Full air pressure before the valve, air was not properly being supplied to rear chambers. Took apart brake valve to find a cracked diaphragm. One new brake valve later and air brakes are back to normal operation. Re-adjusted slack adjusters and customer was on his way.
