Neanderthals, living between 130,000 and 40,000 years ago, had robust, muscular bodies adapted to cold climates. They were shorter than modern humans, with broad chests and strong limbs. Their faces featured large noses, prominent brow ridges, and a slightly sloping forehead.

Their skulls were elongated, with a pronounced occipital bun at the back. Neanderthals had large eyes and wide, strong jaws with heavy teeth. Reconstructions suggest their skin, hair, and eye colors varied, likely reflecting adaptation to different environments across Europe and Western Asia.
