⭐ Meet the Board: Gary Pennell ⛏️

We’re proud to spotlight Gary Pennell, a dedicated Miner and accomplished leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to both industry and his alma mater.

Gary earned his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Missouri–Rolla in 1997 and later completed a professional degree in metallurgical engineering. His expertise and leadership have led to a successful career in the steel industry, including his role as chief metallurgist with Nucor-Yamato Steel, where he has played an instrumental part in advancing operations and innovation.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary has remained deeply connected to Missouri S&T. He has been a champion for student success, helping recruit and mentor future engineers, and fostering strong partnerships between industry and the university. His impact was recognized with his induction into the Missouri S&T Academy of Mines and Metallurgy, honoring his outstanding contributions to the field.

Gary’s passion for giving back and strengthening the Miner network makes him a valued member of the Miner Alumni Association Board. We’re grateful for his leadership and continued dedication to the S&T community! 💚
