The Community Foundation For Greater Rome

We are honored to partner with Rome Rotary on an exciting project that will celebrate an important chapter of our community's history.

This week, Rome Rotary announced plans to construct a memorial honoring the Cherokee Nation. The memorial will be located at the entrance to Chieftains Museum, along the property line with Ridge Ferry Park, creating a lasting place for reflection, education, and remembrance.

We're pleased to serve as the charitable partner for this community effort by accepting tax-deductible contributions to help bring the vision to life. The fundraising goal is to secure at least $100,000 by Labor Day so the selected sculptor can begin work, with completion anticipated in time for the Cherokee Nation's 200th anniversary of its Constitution in July 2027.

Sonny Ledford, Cultural Ambassador for the Cherokee Nation, shared with Rotary that the tribe is pleased with the vision for this meaningful project, making this a truly collaborative effort to honor history with respect.

Conversations can change lives.

Thanks to the important work of NAMI Rome, GA, hundreds of local students and parents are learning how to recognize the signs of mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and know where to turn for help.

Through its Ending the Silence program, NAMI Rome has already reached 634 students and parents through 27 local classroom presentations.

The Community Foundation for Greater Rome was pleased to help support this outreach through a Greater Rome Impact Grant. Investing in prevention, education, and awareness today helps create a stronger, healthier community for tomorrow.

A strong community creates opportunities for everyone to belong.

This summer, ESP is hosting its largest Day Camp season ever, serving 85 children and young adults with disabilities through four weeks of programming. After two incredible weeks, campers are now looking ahead to Overnight Camp—a week of unforgettable experiences for participants and meaningful respite for their families.

We're grateful to have supported this work through a grant from the Greater Rome Impact Fund. Investing in organizations like ESP helps build a community where every individual is welcomed, included, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Access to support when life becomes difficult can make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Through a recent Community Foundation grant, Battlefield Ministries helped make counseling more affordable for local individuals and families through its sliding fee scale program.

Last year, 447 counseling sessions were provided at reduced rates, with 66 sessions directly supported by Community Foundation funding.

By helping remove financial barriers to care, Battlefield Ministries is ensuring more members of our community can access the support they need when they need it most.

When children enter foster care, they often arrive with very few personal belongings.

A recent Community Foundation grant helped The Bloom Closet purchase new underwear and socks for youth entering foster care—meeting a basic but critical need during a difficult transition.

Through personal shopping appointments, children can select clothing and essentials that fit their needs and style. So far in 2026, The Bloom Closet has served more than 527 foster children and distributed over 11,900 items.

Community impact sometimes starts with something as simple as ensuring a child has the basics.

Community Foundation awards $50K through South Rome Alliance Fund The Community Foundation for Greater Rome and the South Rome Alliance recently announced $50,000 in grants awarded to organizations serving children, youth and families in South Rome.

The Community Foundation for Greater Rome is proud to announce $50,000 in grants awarded yesterday through the South Rome Alliance Fund. Since 2023, more than $200,000 has been distributed from this fund to directly support the South Rome community.

These grants support grassroots nonprofits serving children and youth throughout the summer months—helping provide opportunities for learning, enrichment, stability, mentorship, meals, and community connection.

Thank you to the South Rome Alliance for its continued commitment to investing in the next generation and strengthening the South Rome community.

In strong communities, organizations work together to remove barriers that too often go unseen.

Through support from a recent Community Foundation grant, Cancer Navigators has expanded practical, local support for individuals undergoing cancer treatment across our community.

Since November, they have:
– Provided more than 5,100 bottles of nutritional support
– Distributed nearly $10,000 in gas assistance to make it to appointments
– Facilitated 73 counseling sessions
– Launched a new wig program for patients in need

These services address more than medical needs. They help ensure patients can get to treatment, maintain stability, and access support with dignity during difficult seasons of life.

This is the value of investing in strong community-based organizations that understand local needs and respond in tangible ways.
