National Gun Storage Check Week

June 1-7, Gun Storage Check Week is a National campaign to encourage all gun owners to check their firearm storage practices, and if necessary, take action to "Make Sure It's Secure."
The Gerrish Township Police Department has partnered with 15,000 law enforcement agencies to provide FREE gun locks to our community through "Project Child Safe." Since 1998, this organization has provided 42 million free gun locks throughout the United States.

The Gerrish Township Police Department provides FREE gun locks to our community that will work with all types of guns. Stop by our office during administrative hours Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and pick up however many free locks you need.
Together, we can all do our part in preventing firearm related incidents.

Found Keys

A resident turned in two keys this morning that were found on the roadside by Rose Avenue and County Road 200 (Gerrish Township).
If you have lost your keys and can describe them, please call Officer Dylan Sharrow at (989) 821-5207 Ext. 285 to make arrangement to get them back to you.

Memorial Day 05-25-2026

We would like to take a moment to celebrate all the men and women who fought and died for our Country.
These selfless, brave veterans laid everything on the line for our freedom and for this we are truly thankful.
As you celebrate with friends and family this weekend, please take a pause to remember and honor those that made the supreme sacrifice for our country.

As you are cleaning up this weekend, don't forget that we collect scrap metal for our ACT NOW Scrap Metal Project fundraiser. Our trailer is located behind the Gerrish Twp. Police Department. Please note this is for metal items only (see the photo for items we cannot accept). All proceeds from this annual project support the many community programs that ACT NOW and the Gerrish Police Department sponsor.

Our new scrap metal trailer has been filling up quickly. We would like to thank our community partners who donated to the purchase of the trailer, which is a bigger and safer style than what we have been using for several years. Thank you ACT NOW, Roscommon Rotary Club and the Roscommon County Community Foundation!

If you see something you would like to take from the scrap metal trailer (one person's junk may be another person's treasure), we would appreciate it if you would make a small donation as this is a fundraising effort. There is a black box with a sign on the fence behind the trailer for donations.

If you have other items you need to dispose of and don't know what to do with them, check out the photo showing the Household Hazardous Waste Collection, when and where the collection will occur and what items they accept or will not accept.
