Rusk Area Merchants is hosting a city-wide Secret Santa event and everyone is invited to participate. If you are interested please complete the form below and return it by this Friday, June 26, via drop-off, email or text. Participants will receive details about the person they will be playing Secret Santa for.

The game involves sending weekly hints about yourself along with small gifts based on the recipient's preferences. For example, a gift of Dr Pepper with a hint about yourself would be suitable if that's their favorite drink. Over three weeks, participants will send gifts with hints, culminating in a final gift where the recipient tries to guess the identity of their Secret Santa.

The Rusk Police Department is warning local businesses and residents to be aware of fictitious currency that has recently been discovered in circulation within our area.

These fake bills may closely resemble legitimate U.S. currency at first glance but are not legal tender. In some cases, the bills contain markings such as "For Motion Picture Use Only," "Copy," or other indicators that identify them as novelty or prop money.

Businesses are encouraged to carefully inspect larger denomination bills and utilize counterfeit detection tools when available. Citizens should also examine cash received during transactions, private sales, or other exchanges.

If you receive suspected fictitious currency: Do not return it to the individual who passed it. Limit handling of the bill if possible. Note any description of the person involved and any vehicle information. Contact law enforcement immediately.
