This , let's give these elusive creatures a little appreciation 🦈

Sharks are often feared and misunderstood, but they play a vital role in keeping our marine ecosystems healthy and balanced.

Interactions between people and sharks are rare, but when visiting the coast, always stay aware of your surroundings, follow posted signs and heed instructions from lifeguards or park staff.

California State Parks was born to rock, man! 🤘On International Rock Day 🪨, it’s all about geology and we have rocks of all shapes and sizes and parks that just rock, man! We have red rock cliffs, 6,000-foot tall granite spires and famed Vaqueros sandstone known to be about 30-40 million years old. Yeah, that rocks🤘
Here are just 3 parks to learn more about California’s diverse geology:
🪨 Red Rock Canyon State Park features scenic desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations. The red sandstone beds for which this region is famous, consists of nearly 7,000 feet of coarse volcanic ash, lava flows, sandstones, lake-deposited silts and clays, and sandy gravels.
🪨 Castle Crags State Park’s crags have enduring myths and legends. More than 170 million years old, these 6000-feet tall granite spires are a must see! Depending on the time of day and the sun’s shadows, look for hidden “faces” carved by snow and ice into the granite surfaces.
🪨 Castle Rock State Park is known for many things but the famed Vaqueros sandstones are a must see and you can find these eroded sandstone formations at Varian Peak, Goat Rock, Russell Point and Castle Rock.
