Sorry I have been so silent lately. I had a terrible flu that lasted for three weeks, through most of the holiday season. I'm back but still drained of energy. I hope to be posting more soon.

May you have a Blessed Samhain, a Happy Halloween, a sacred Dia de los Mu***os! As the year comes to a close and the wheel of the year turns to the shadowed, contemplative, womb of the Goddess time of year, may the final harvest sustain you, may the ancestors cross the thinning veil and bless you, may the new year give you hope, and may your final blowout party before the winter bring you joy!

A Call For Poets

A tradition that began in BC (before covid) is being revived at the upcoming “Samhain: A Celtic New Year Celebration.” That tradition is the annual Pagan Poet Laureate Contest. The winner of the contest will be declared the Pagan Poet Laureate 2025 for a term of one year. To enter, send your name, phone number, and email address to [email protected], and then prepare three of your poems to read at the November 3rd Celebration. Judges will decide the winning poet and award the title on the day of the contest. Poems can be any length and on any topic, though poets will have a 5 to 10 minute reading limit depending on the number of participants. Grab your 3 best original poems, make a copy for the judges, and take a chance on being declared the next Pagan Poet Laureate. The winner will be required to participate in a minimum of three poetry readings during the year, and will be one of the judges for next year’s competition. This year’s judges will include published Poet Laureate Emeritus of Lavender Heights, Michael R. Gorman, and long time Sacramento poetry entrepeneur and current host of the Classy Hippy Tea Shop’s poetry reading, Rob Esperanza. Questions? Call 916-640-7543.
