🇺🇸The is right around the corner! And while it’s a time for celebration, it’s also unfortunately the number one day of the year for lost pets.💔
The sudden, loud noises from fireworks 🎆 can cause even the calmest animals to panic, triggering a flight response that leads them to bolt. Let's make sure our furry best friends stay safe and secure this holiday!
Here are a few critical steps to take before the fireworks begin:
🏷️ Check Tags & Microchips: Make sure your pet is wearing a secure collar with up-to-date ID tags. Most importantly, verify that your pet is microchipped and that your phone number and address are current in the microchip registry.
🔒 Secure Your Perimeter: A scared pet can find impossible ways to escape. Do a perimeter walk of your yard to ensure fences are completely intact and all gates are securely locked. When the fireworks start, the safest place for them is indoors in a secure, comfortable room.
🩺 Consult Your Vet: If you know your pet suffers from severe noise anxiety or has panicked during storms or fireworks in the past, don't wait. Reach out to your veterinarian right now to discuss safe medication or calming options to help them get through the night comfortably.
