Just in time, the first delivery of lumber milled from beetle-killed pines has arrived to add some life to the UC Davis Our U2House entry to the 2017 Solar Decathlon competition. A great use of "hospice tree" materials.

Forest Innovations and Matthew C. Boyer and Associates donated $4,283.87 of reclaimed cedar and pine wood products to the UC Davis Solar Decathlon 2017 for all exposed wooden surfaces, interior furniture, and front-yard amenities.

Today some team members went and visited the lumber yard of . What's unique about all their wood? All of it comes from trees killed in the last CA drought. And yes, you will see it featured prominently within and around Our H2Ouse 😎

This incredible time lapse should give you an idea of how severe the tree mortality crisis has become.
Our goal is to repurpose 26 million of these hospice trees and make the best of a terrible situation.
