The Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force was out this morning assisting the Hampshire Fire Protection District with their Box Alarm. Thank you to the Illinois State Fire Marshal and ATF for your assistance.

As we awoke this morning, we were notified of the passing of West Dundee Professional Firefighters Union 4882 Captain Dan Kilian. Captain Kilian fought a courageous battle with cancer. Please take a moment today and remember Captain Dan Kilian and his family, friends, and the members of the West Dundee Fire Department. Our prayers are with you.

From West Dundee Fire Chief Mike Spiro:

Dan's journey with the West Dundee Fire Department began on February 4, 2008. He was promoted to Lieutenant on May 16, 2022, and then to Captain on October 23, 2023. Throughout his 18 years of service, Dan has held various roles, including Union President, EMS Coordinator, a member of the Foreign Fire Board, and Pension Board member. He also participated actively in the Kane County Fire Investigators task force.
