“My design process started with understanding how this family actually lives day to day. This kitchen was designed for a couple with three children in a smaller home, where every inch needed to work hard. With one homeowner working as a nurse and the other as a police detective, their schedules are demanding, and the kitchen needed to support a busy family routine rather than simply look beautiful.

The existing kitchen was very small and lacked the storage and workspace their family needed. By combining the kitchen and dining areas, I was able to create a more functional eat-in kitchen that gives them a central place to cook, gather, do homework, share meals, and move through daily life more easily. Storage was a major priority, so the design incorporates tall cabinetry, improved cabinet layout, and a large island that adds prep space, seating, and practical family function. Because this was a real remodel with real budget constraints, the design decisions were made carefully.

I focused on elements that would give the biggest impact without overcomplicating the project. The material palette blends warm wood cabinetry, durable surfaces, timeless lighting, and current but adaptable finishes. I wanted the kitchen to feel fresh and on-trend for 2026, while still being flexible enough to evolve over time. My goal was to create a kitchen that feels elevated, welcoming, and modern, but also realistic for a hardworking family. The final design balances beauty, storage, durability, and budget-conscious planning, giving the homeowners a space that supports their lifestyle now and will continue to serve them well for years.”
