Hello G.A.I.N. followers. We have a somber post today, but we feel it is necessary.

We were called about a cat that was found down on the side of the road. The finder asked us to help her. So they brought her to us, and we could tell right away that she was badly injured.

We checked her for a microchip to be safe, and then we took her immediately to MSU Emergency Veterinary Services.

She was black with a few small white markings. She was also ear tipped, so clearly someone cared to get her fixed. She was gentle as can be and never raised a paw to us even though she was clearly in pain.

Unfortunately the story doesn't have a happy ending. The vets at MSU told us it was kindest to let her go.

We called her Astrid for the short time we knew her. It means beloved by the Gods. We felt she deserved a strong name and a fighting chance. We stayed with her until the end and she passed away comfortable and surrounded by love.

This sweet girl mattered. So we decided to share her with you so you could help us honor her.
