I know that feeling because, honestly, I still get nervous when I receive IRS mail too.

Dealing with the IRS is never fun, but when you file with Community Tax+, you’re not on your own.

After nearly a year of working through an IRS audit, we were able to successfully resolve this case and have our client’s tax liability reversed.

One thing I always tell my clients: as long as you’re honest with us and provide accurate information, most tax issues can be addressed and resolved with proper documentation and the right person on your side.

As a reminder, due to my growing workload as both a tax professional and mortgage loan officer (yes, I do loans too), I will no longer be accepting new tax resolution cases for individuals whose returns were not prepared by our office.

I know I’ve helped several people who self-prepared their returns or used other preparers over the past month, but moving forward, audit assistance will be reserved for Community Tax+ clients.

Here’s the REAL cost of filing late:

💸 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐭𝐨-𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲
• 5% per month of unpaid taxes
• Max 25%
• If over 60 days late → minimum $485 or 100% of tax (whichever is LESS)

💸 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐭𝐨-𝐏𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲
• 0.5% per month
• Max 25%
• Continues even after you file

📈 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 (𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐃𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐘)
• Currently around 8%+ annually (can change quarterly)

👉 Even if you can’t pay by 4/15 — FILE ON TIME
That avoids the biggest penalty (5%/month).
