Just like you cannot think yourself into being a good golfer or basketball player, you can not think yourself into being more obedient and a better disciple to Jesus.

You must change the things you desire, the habits you practice, and order your life to Jesus through the spiritual habits and disciplines of Jesus. It takes more than the thought of doing it, you must practice actually doing it.

James 1:22: "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says".

It concerns me when I hear believers speaking of non-believers as the enemy. According to Scripture, those who do not believe have been taken captive by Satan to do his will—they’re prisoners of war. Nonbelievers aren’t the enemy; they’re the enemy’s captives.
