⚾️ Summer Development Program in Action ⚾️

In this drill, our athletes were working on routine ground balls to their glove side with a focus on attacking the baseball, cutting down the distance between themselves and the ball, and maintaining momentum toward first base after fielding it.

One of the things I love most about these sessions is the mix of athletes we get to work with. Some players are more advanced, some are just getting started, and others have only been playing baseball for a short time. No matter their skill level, they show up ready to learn, compete, and help each other improve.

The best part? They have fun doing it.

Player development isn’t just about creating better baseball players—it’s about building confidence, work ethic, and a love for the game. Watching these athletes work together, encourage one another, and enjoy the process is what makes programs like this so rewarding.

Despite the rain cutting us short today, our athletes got quality work in during the Summer Development Program.

Today's focus was the 10-yard sprint and improving first-step explosiveness. In baseball, the first few steps can be the difference between being safe or out, making a play or missing it.

By working on acceleration and reaction, athletes are learning how to:
⚾ Get better jumps when stealing bases
⚾ Cover more ground in the field
⚾ Improve their reaction time
⚾ Develop overall athleticism and speed

Speed isn't just about running fast—it's about getting moving fast.
