👍🏽🎤 Thumb-mic interview with .plants in Keizer, Oregon!
Today we stopped by Rootbound Plants & Pots to talk all things plants, small business, and what makes this shop so special.
From rare houseplants and handmade pottery to fresh flower arrangements and plant styling, Rootbound is more than a store. It is a place built to help people bring more life into their homes, offices, and everyday spaces. Rootbound was created with the idea that plants bring people together and help us feel more alive.
A plant becomes “rootbound” when everything is going right. It has the sunlight, water, and nutrients to grow so much that it needs a bigger pot. That idea became the inspiration for this business and for the people behind it.
The community seems to agree. Locals consistently mention how friendly, knowledgeable, and affordable Rootbound is, with many saying it is their favorite place in the Salem and Keizer area to shop for houseplants.
If you have not visited yet, stop by at 5430 River Rd N in Keizer and say hi. You might leave with a new plant, a new favorite shop, and maybe a little more life in your day!

Tell Your Story: .acres
“I moved back onto the family farm in 2007 and began growing flowers for my own personal enjoyment. As a higher education administrator, I spent many early morning, late evening, and weekend hours in my greenhouse and flowerbeds because these were the spaces where I found balance and rejuvenation – this became particularly important during the years when I completed my doctoral research and walked alongside my mother as she suffered through Alzheimer’s.
Mom loved flowers (and hollyhocks in particular) so working in these spaces helped me to both grieve and heal. Growing for my own personal well-being naturally transformed into something I wanted to share but doing so as more than just a hobby didn’t register until a young friend (thanks Abby!) asked me to grow flowers for her wedding. This was a different kind of garden planning, and I loved it! I began “what-if-ing” in earnest and in 2021, left the university and took the plunge. Today, I’m cultivating happiness through beauty and generosity.” -.acres
