Really good info about tip shape.
Dime radius or Nickel radius on your tip?
Using a Dime or Nickel radius actually makes a noticeable difference in how the cue ball reacts.
Dime Radius (More Curved)
• Shape: Tighter, more rounded
• Pros:
• Easier to apply spin (english)
• Better for finesse, cue ball control, and advanced shots
• Cons:
• Less margin for error → easier to miscue if your tip placement isn’t precise
• Best for: Intermediate to advanced players who rely on spin and touch
Nickel Radius (Flatter)
• Shape: Slightly flatter, less curvature
• Pros:
• More forgiving on contact
• More consistent for center-ball and power shots
• Cons:
• Harder to get extreme spin
• Best for: Beginners to intermediate players, or players who prefer a simpler, more consistent hit
Simple way to choose
• If you’re working on cue ball control and spin → go dime
• If you want consistency and forgiveness → go nickel
Pro Insight
Most higher-level players lean toward dime radius, but only if their stroke is solid. If your tip placement isn’t consistent yet, a nickel can actually help you play better right now.

Among a million things I’m doing in the shop. Wet sanded to 10K. Time to polish.
Don’t post a lot and my intermittent chrinic health issues slows me down more often than I want them to.
There are big changes to come soon. It’s going to be an all out cue business that I had never thought I would get to in such a short time. But there was perfect timing and an opportunity to grow for the future.

I’m a veteran and always referring to these to be used in your table time to master a specific shot. So please don’t get offended when I talk about them.
