Join Dr. David Manock and the ICI team for an all day seminar on the Neurobiology of Relationships. Drawing on the work of Dr. Daniel Siegel, neuropsychiatrist, and Dr. Jim Wilder, neurotheolgian, as well as the integrative research of Dr. Manock in the area of human-human and human-God attachment, we will examine the ways we are wired for relationship with all of its impacts on therapy, healing, and bondedness. Humans have a life-long neuroplasticity (esp. in the area of joy): our brains can change and so can our relationships! Neurobiology is transforming the field of psychology and is foundational to the Manock Integrative Method.
This is a public seminar, open to anyone in the community. It is specifically geared toward therapists and pastors, and will be informative for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of human minds and relationships.
Cost: $50
CE credits available for extra $100
Open to the public.
Remote options available.
Breakfast provided; bring your own lunch.

Happy new year! We're kicking off a long stretch of once-a-month seminars and would love to have you join us. January 19 we are hosting "Attachment Theory 1" in Albany, taught by Dr. David I. Manock. Public welcome--in person attendance preferred, but online options available.
Register here: www.salemici.com/seminars
Description: Attachment Theory (AT) suggests that children come into the world biologically wired to form attachments with others because this will help them survive. All humans need attachment relationships and all humans experience attachment wounds. There are four basic attachment styles (secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized) that are formed in our early years of life. Childhood and adult attachment bonds lie at the heart of what it is to be human. In this seminar we examine the principles of Attachment Theory, looking closely at the teachings of Drs. Mary Main, Mary Ainsworth, and John Bowlby. We will utilize tools such as the genogram, AAI, and MAAI to learn how to determine primary attachment style and how to use these tools to facilitate growth and healing.

Our Story
Humans are living documents. Each person has six essential life stories: birth, name, family, love, work and faith. Psychological struggles and problems reflect relational failures connected to those stories that are internalized. If relationships bring us pain and distress, it takes relationship to heal them.
At the Integrative Counseling Institute, our clinicians and pastoral counselors offer a safe and caring environment to address the whole person; brain, mind and relationship.
ICI also offers training and supervision for counselors and interns.
