New advisory board for sign language interpreters seeks applicants
The state of Oregon is recruiting seven people to serve on a new Board of Sign Language Interpreters. The board will determine qualifications for Oregon’s sign language license types such as educational, legal and medical, as well as advise on industry standards, technical expertise and a perspective on how policy changes affect the profession.
Each board member must be a resident of Oregon and proficient in American Sign Language (ASL). Five of the positions require an Oregon sign language interpreter license, which can be earned after applying.
The board will begin in January 2024 and will meet approximately three to four times a year (virtual attendance is possible). Individuals are appointed to four-year terms and may be entitled to compensation.
To apply, click here, then scroll down to the “Apply Online” section and follow the prompts under “External – New Applicants.” For more on the open positions, including applicant qualifications, visit our website or contact Derek Fultz at [email protected] or (503) 373-1915.
Students go back to school soon, and we have LOTS of long-term and short-term K-12 work available. Let us know if you're interested. Tell your friends!
