The Battle for Truth

In our American society today, truth is under assault. It is rare that you hear anyone talk about absolute truth. Instead, truth is relative depending on the person and situation.

This puts believers in a challenging situation. We believe that God is the source of all truth and His Word must be held as divine, absolute truth. This creates a battle between God’s truth and Satan’s lies. It’s a battle for a biblical worldview.

The problem is we’ve gotten smarter but not better. We’ve gained—technology, medicine, and scientific understanding—but none of those things have changed our hearts and the struggle with pride, fear, lust, anger, and selfishness.

The world needs absolute truth and a biblical worldview. When a society throws out moral absolutes, it loses the ability to agree on right and wrong. A worldview absent from absolute truth collapses into confusion.

We’ve Gotten Smarter, But Not Better

We’ve gotten smarter over the years. We’ve made tremendous gains in technology, with computers and smartphones. There have been giant leaps in the medical field. Information has exploded with AI. Our scientific knowledge continues to grow.

But none of those things have changed the human heart. We still experience the pull toward self-rule. We struggle with pride, fear, lust, anger, and selfishness every day. We redefine right and wrong and can’t even define truth.

What we need is a new heart because the one we’re born with is bent away from God. Scripture says, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick…” (Jeremiah 17:9 ESV). We don’t just need to be smarter; we need transformation.

That’s why God promises, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26 CSB). Only God can remove the heart of stone that resists Him and replace it with a heart that desires Him.

This is the miracle of salvation: not moral improvement, but spiritual rebirth. We now have a heart made new by the Spirit so we can finally love, obey, and walk with God from the inside out.
