This little house has slowly become a home.

Kyle and I have moved eight times since we’ve been married, so putting down roots has always felt a little unfamiliar. This is the first home we’ve ever owned, and if I’m being honest, I spent the beginning worrying that something would happen and we’d somehow lose it. It took me a while to fully settle in. I even tried to get past that feeling by painting walls, but it didn’t go away easily.

Somewhere over the past year, though, I finally got over it. Maybe it’s because I’ve been more of a homebody this year with all the medical stuff. We had to make this house comfortable and make it work for us. Especially while living in survival mode.

Over the past two years, we’ve hosted friends, tackled way too many DIY projects (with painted trim still unfinished and, of course, not pictured here), collected thrifted treasures, planted a cut flower garden, watched Pumpkin Bowl movies on the couch ( ), and kept our two senior pugs comfortable. 🥹

And while we’ve made so much progress, the bedrooms are finally next! We’ve had the same bedroom furniture for 12 years, and our bed frame was already scratched up when we found it on Craigslist. I think it’s officially earned its retirement. 😅

Here’s to another year of making this little house ours. And watching Facebook marketplace like a hawk.
