Our Story
The house was located at 238 East Romie Lane for many years, but was relocated in 1999 to the Salinas Transportation Center because of its historical significance to the opening of the Southern Pacific Railroad passageway in Salinas by Leland Stanford, a contemporary and friend of then Mayor Isaac Harvey.
The Harvey house is the oldest home in town, one of ten dating from the period that still exist in Salinas and it is the only one that operates as a museum and interprets the early history of Salinas. It is located on a 16,0750 square lot adjacent to what will soon be the Intermodal Transportation Center.
