Free paint? 🎨 Yes, really. Our HHW facility accepts unused paint for safe disposal, and also shares it back with the community at no cost.

Thank you to the residents who safely bring in their Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at no charge, including paint, batteries, auto fluids, light bulbs, cleaning products and electronics. Putting these products in your garbage cart is illegal and poses a danger to public and environmental health.

Because most of what’s dropped off still has usable contents, we created a program to share these products with the community. Check out our share table next time you visit ReGen Monterey or Last Chance Mercantile.

ReGen is a proud partner!

Hope you enjoy our SMASHING new reel 💥 Always remember that plastics labeled #1, 2 and 5 can be put inside your blue curbside recycling cart. But what about large rigid plastics that can’t fit inside? Think plastic patio furniture, laundry baskets, crates, children’s play equipment and toys, drums and barrels. We’ll take those for FREE at our Recycling Drop-Off Center!

Watch the process from drop off to the baler, whose remarkable strength can smash these bulky materials into thousand pound cubes! 💥♻️ Thanks to you, we’ll ship them off to manufacturers to make new products. Learn more about our free drop-off at regenmonterey.org/recycling-drop-off-center.

⭐ BEST IN SHOW! ⭐

ReGen Monterey, Salinas Valley Recycles - SVSWA and Blue Strike Environmental are proud to celebrate the success of Sort with Heart, our award-winning organics recycling education campaign.

In addition to earning Best in Show at the 2026 California Association of Public Information Officials Excellence in Public Information and Communications (EPIC) Awards, the campaign also received an EPIC Award for Communications Campaign and an Award of Distinction for Public Service Announcement.

Sort with Heart was made possible through CalRecycle’s Local Assistance Grant Program, which invests in local efforts to increase participation in organics recycling programs that help reduce food waste and curb greenhouse gas emissions.

Supporting California’s SB 1383 goals, the campaign encouraged residents to see food scrap recycling as a familiar, easy and culturally rooted practice. Through bilingual outreach, public art, storytelling and media campaigns, Sort with Heart showed how everyday habits around preparing and sharing food can extend naturally to composting food scraps in the green cart.

Thank you to CalRecycle for helping make this work possible and to the many partners, artists, filmmakers, community leaders, member jurisdictions and organizations who contributed their creativity, expertise and support along the way, and to our communications peers who recognized the value of this work.
