Your partner made a Takeout Double.

You have 2 points and a void in every suit they showed.

You STILL have to bid.

I know that feels wrong. But here's the rule that never changes:

You NEVER pass a Takeout Double unless you're sitting with 4+ trump tricks behind the doubler AND a penalty hand. That almost never happens.

Everything else? Pick your best suit. Even with zero points. Even with garbage. Bid it.

Your partner has 12+ points and shortness in their suit - they can handle the rest.

There are 3 requirements to make a Takeout Double.

Most players only know one.

A Takeout Double requires:
- Shortness in the opponent's suit (singleton or void)
- Support for all 3 unbid suits
- Enough strength to force partner to bid (usually 12+ points)

Miss any one of these and you're not making a Takeout Double. You're making a mistake.
