Honestly… this is one of my favorite parts of a photoshoot.

It happens before the camera even really gets going.

It’s the moment someone sits down and just says what they’re actually feeling.

Sometimes it’s
“Please don’t make me do anything weird.”

Fair.

Most people assume they’re supposed to know how to pose before a portrait session.

But really… you don’t.

That’s my job.

So every session here at the studio starts slowly. But fun.

Good music.
Hair and makeup getting started.
Wardrobe settling in.
A little breathing room.

Then we start building the image together.

Soft tweaks.
Subtle direction.
Finding the good light.

And smiling.

Just kidding.

Finding the best fluster.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, something shifts.

You stop thinking about the camera.
You stop thinking about me.
You stop performing.

And for a moment, you’re just you.

That’s the moment we capture.

Not perfection.

Presence.

This work doesn’t exist outside of the world.
It exists inside it.

For some of us, creating right now feels layered — as artists, as daughters, as mothers.

the quiet drives that remind me I am still me

I have been rebuilding my rhythm
learning to show up in the middle of real life
not polished
just present
the way it looks when you are raising babies and running something you love

And somewhere in that rhythm
I started noticing how nostalgic these frames really are
the grain
the mess
the sunlight
the fabric
the way my kids treat the studio like home

They are not aesthetic
but they already feel like memories

We save so much on our phones
yet the moments that matter most
are the ones we barely remember capturing
the ones where we were too busy living to pose

That is the part of life I want to help you hold on to
especially now
when the season is moving fast
and the holidays arrive whether we feel ready or not
