💧 WATER LEAK DETECTION: A NEW PROGRAM TO KNOW ABOUT 🚨

Unexpected water damage can be expensive, stressful, and disruptive. Mercury Insurance has introduced a new water leak detection requirement for certain new homeowner policies to help customers reduce the risk of water-related claims.

For policies effective May 29, 2026, and later, qualifying smart water leak detection devices must be installed on certain new HO-3 homeowner policies before the first renewal if the property meets specific criteria.

QUALIFYING DEVICES MAY INCLUDE:

-WHOLE-HOME WATER FLOW MONITORING
Tracks water flow and can send real-time alerts when unusual activity is detected.

-SMART OR CENTRALLY MONITORED LEAK DETECTION AND SHUTOFF
Automatically shuts off water when a leak is detected.

-SMART POINT-OF-LEAK SENSORS
Alerts homeowners when water touches the sensor.

In addition to helping prevent costly water damage, qualifying devices may also help customers receive a homeowners policy discount after installation.
