Locally owned Specialty Cheese Shop and caterer
This is a Part Time position (3 to 5 days a week, Tues through Sat- up to 30 hours a week) with a great opportunity to start on the ground floor; this position will have room for growth for the right person. As mentioned, the shop will be open Tuesday through Saturday and the person that we are seeking must be available to work on all if not most of those days consistently- especially Fridays and Saturdays.
Ideally we are looking for a candidate that has either experience OR enthusiasm for cheese, wine, and charcuterie. Culinary experience or a love for cooking is also a plus. This is first and foremost a customer service position, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys helping people and has a positive and upbeat demeanor. There is a lot of cleaning involved in working in a foodservice environment, so you must be ready and willing to clean. You will be expected to learn our iPad-based cash register system, REVEL. You will also be handling food, working with knives/slicers and learning our preferred methods for cutting and wrapping cheese and cured meats.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
-Must be comfortable using knives, commercial meat slicers, sampling, handling and selling cheese and meat products
-Working in a team environment but also able to work independently if required.
-Self starter
-Eager to learn about new products (cheese, meat, specialty foods) and sharing your knowledge with our customers to increase sales
-Operate a Point of Sale machine (Revel, Shopify)
-Detail oriented with the ability to multitask
-Ability to be adaptable and flexible in a fast paced working environment
-Excellent phone etiquette
-Ability to take a phone or in-person order and fulfill it quickly and accurately
-Keep a clean and functional work space
-Packaging and labeling house made products
-Lifting 40 + pounds on occasion
-Standing for 8+ hours a day
-Taking pick up orders out to customers
What we offer our Team Members:
Relatively consistent schedule with great hours- we are open 5 days a week and we close the store at 5 pm (staff goes home at 6 pm). Closed most major holidays including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
