The Middle School Fishing Elective absolutely crushed it!!! Everyone on the boat caught fish to take home and had a wonderful day out on the ocean. Our 27 anglers caught:

Students in Ms. Horrigan’s Honors Creative Writing and Journalism class enjoyed a field trip to the Santa Barbara Independent office today! Senior Editor, Tyler Hayden gave them a tour and overview of how a newsroom works. Students learned all about the power of media and how using their words can make big impacts on the community. Thank you to the Barbara Independent for inspiring the next generation of journalists!

This morning 7th Graders visited the Jewish Federation of Santa Barbara to complement their understanding of their Holocaust Book Club selections in English. Students had the honor of hearing Holocaust survivor George Rusnak's inspiring story. They also enjoyed their Portraits of Survival exhibit, and participated in a workshop about being an Upstander. They concluded with a chance to ask George questions. When asked what advice he might have for students, he encouraged them to "Keep asking good questions." This act of curiosity encourages critical thinking, empathy, and engagement with the world. Students left in awe of the strength of the human spirit and reminded of the fact that any act of kindness or courage is never too small.
