October 11 our guests are archaeologist Anabel Ford and community leader Cynthia Ellis Topsey. United by their deep ties to Belize, Anabel and Cynthia explore the Maya Forest—past and present—through their shared commitment to conservation, culture, and community.

Their partnership bridges disciplines and worlds. Over the decades, Anabel's and Cynthia's shared curiosity about humanity has evolved into a dynamic collaboration grounded in respect and shared purpose.

What began in the field of archaeology has blossomed into a celebration of local knowledge and ecological wisdom—the Maya forest gardens. Their ongoing work, “Archaeology Under the Canopy” at the Maya city of El Pilar, embodies a living model of collaboration between culture and nature. In fact Anabel refers to El Pilar as a "living museum and laboratory," where the ancient city is presented in harmony with the surrounding Maya forest garden.

Join us as Anabel and Cynthia share their journey—an inspiring story of discovery, tradition, and the enduring bond between people and the forest that sustains them.

See you at the Salon!
