This is the inside of a 15 year-old Enagic machine, bought used online.(BTW: something we adamantly discourage)
The customer knew the risk going in — he just couldn’t swing a brand-new system yet, and we get that.
After he picked it up, even a deep clean from us didn’t fix it: the water still didn’t taste right. So being the hands-on type, he took the machine apart himself (please don’t try this at home) — and found this.
A tube coated in mold and mildew, built up over who-knows-how-many years of unknown maintenance history. 🦠🤢🦠
This isn’t a dig at him, in fact, he gave me permission to use this picture ☺️
It’s a warning for anyone tempted to save a few hundred dollars on a secondhand machine:
→ No warranty
→ No recourse if something’s wrong → No idea how it was actually cared for before you
→ No customer ID, which means no access to genuine parts or maintenance supplies
→ No lifetime support from True Source Waters
A used machine is a gamble with your daily water. The only way to know exactly what you’re drinking — and to actually be covered if something goes wrong — is to start with a new system.
