✨ When leadership means finding a way—no matter what. ✨
In Palestina de los Altos, Quetzaltenango, Jovita de León, ConnectED Fellow, faced a challenge: how to teach reading without the right tools—especially for students with special educational needs.
Instead of waiting, she took action.
By building on years of relationships with organizations like and reaching out for support, Jovita secured a collection of adapted books—including audiobooks, textured materials, and inclusive formats designed for diverse learning needs.
What began as a gap became an opportunity: today, she is strengthening a resource center for reading, ensuring that every child can access learning in a way that meets them where they are.

✨ Cuando liderar significa encontrar el camino, sin rendirse. ✨
En Palestina de los Altos, Quetzaltenango, Jovita de León, Fellow de ConnectED, se enfrentó a un reto: enseñar lectura sin contar con las herramientas adecuadas, especialmente para estudiantes con necesidades educativas especiales.
En lugar de esperar, decidió actuar.
A partir de relaciones construidas durante años con organizaciones como COED y gestionando nuevas oportunidades, Jovita logró contar con una colección de libros adaptados: audiolibros, materiales con textura y recursos diseñados para distintos estilos de aprendizaje.
Lo que comenzó como una limitación se convirtió en una oportunidad: hoy impulsa un centro de recursos de lectura, donde cada niño y niña puede aprender desde sus propias capacidades.
