There's a Hoes Down story we still tell.
The King Street Giants were mid-set. The crowd was deep into it - that particular kind of joy that only a funky brass band in an open field can produce. And then the sky opened up.
Not a drizzle or a passing cloud. A full downpour. But nobody left and the band kept playing. The crowd kept dancing. We've never forgotten that set. And we don't think the people who were there have either.
πΊ We are so thrilled to announce that King Street Giants are returning to Hoes Down for our 35th anniversary.
The Petaluma-based funky brass band always leaves the crowd breathless- rain or shine. This year, on October 3 at Full Belly Farm, they'll help us close out 35 years of digging deep the only way that feels right: with brass, soul, and two feet in the soil.
Their new album is out now. Come hear it live!

Itβs hard to learn what "sustainable agriculture" means in a classroom. That's why for 35 years Hoes Down has been educating people aged 0-99 about sustainable agriculture on a real working farm.
Milking a cow. Building compost. Making a dried flower wreath. Cooking over fire. Walking fields that have been farmed organically for decades. Talking to the farmers who live it every day.
35 years of hands-on, in-the-dirt learning. October 3 at Full Belly Farm.

Kicking off the summer season is the 18th Annual Organic Stone Fruit Jubilee on June 27, 2026 in Kingsburg, California. Join us in June for a day of fresh, organic fruit, live music, shared meals, and community as we celebrate the abundance of summer harvest.
We hope you'll join us throughout the year as we gather to share knowledge, celebrate the harvest, and strengthen the connections that sustain our farms and communities. Learn more and register at our link in bio.

Thirty-five years.
We keep saying that number and it keeps stopping us in our tracks.
Thirty-five years ago, a group of female flower farmers had a wild idea: throw a harvest party on a real working farm in the Capay Valley, showcase their love for dried flowers, educate attendees about how food is grown, share a farm to table meal and dance the night away.
We've watched kids grow up at this festival. We've watched those kids bring their own kids. We've seen farmers who were just starting out become the elders who teach the next generation. We've watched friendships form in a square dance line that are still going strong decades later.
That's the thing about Hoes Down. It doesn't just welcome you. It roots you to a place.
This year, we celebrate 35 years of digging deep β into the soil, into community, into the question of what it really means to know where your food comes from and who grows it.
This summer, we're going back to the beginning β digging through 35 years of old photos, stories and memories β to celebrate what the festival has meant to so many people. Stay tuned for the best of the archive.
But first: who are you bringing this year?
π Tag them below. Old friend, new friend, your kid, your parent, someone who's never been β whoever belongs in that field with you on October 3. πΎ
